The closest main town to the villa is Fethiye, about a 45min drive away. Tucked inside a large natural harbour, the town has a very pleasant, pedestrian friendly promenade with pleasure boats of all shapes and sizes moored along side, all over looked by the ubiquitous quay side restaurants. From here you can take a trip to the Greek Island of Rhodes, or for the less nautically and adventurously minded, a trip across the harbour to the more tourist oriented town of Calis.

The fish market in the centre of Fethiye is a real must, particularly for the fish lover. The fish sellers dominate the centre of the square where you can buy your fish, then simply take it to any one of the many surrounding restaurants, have a beer, take in a bit of people watching while supper is prepared. A little chilled raki (an aniseed flavoured grape brandy - tastes better than it sounds), will accompany the fish exceptionally well!

Fethiye also offers a large supermarket, which is handy to stock up on supplies and the Tuesday market is probably worth a visit for the odd bargain or souvenir.

Looking for something a little more daring, then the idea of paragliding might just pop your cork. Oludeniz (Dead Sea), is a sheltered lagoon 8.5km south east of Fethiye, and offers the chance to para glide off Baba Dag (Mt. Baba). At more than 1900m high, perhaps not for the faint hearted, but if you can keep your eyes open, the views will be truly magnificent!

Everyone needs at least one day at the beach! Patara has an award winning beach and again only a 45min drive away. Patara offers a long stretch of soft white sandy beach and shallow seas, ideal to splash around and soak up a few rays. As a word of caution, the white sand becomes very hot during the day, so a pair of flip flops or similar is an essential item. Patara beach is a protected nature reserve, because after dark the sun seekers give way to nesting turtles.
